Modubule declares hate for Khama

Although he commended Kentse Rammidi for his decision to resign as assistant minister, Modubule advised his fellow legislator to decamp and find a party where he will be free to express himself. He told Rammidi who was present at the rally, "you were in the front seat of a car driven by a reckless driver and all you did was move to the back seat which will not stop you from being injured when the reckless driver causes an accident. It is the same car with the same reckless driver and you are bound to be hurt".

"If there is something that I can thank Khama for it is his breaking of the Botswana Democratic Party. I hate all the things that he has done but that one. He has made it easier for opposition parties to take over because he did not stop with the formation of BMD, even now he is still driving some members of the BDP away," Modubule said.

Modubule alleged that Khama was exploiting Section 47 of the constitution which gives the president the right to reject advice from anyone hence he continues to ignore those who have been trying to advise him on how to resolve the current strike by civil servants.

"Just imagine he told the high consultative council that the only way to address the problem was through dialogue yet when MPs and Botswana Council of Churches requested a meeting with him he refused claiming to have a busy schedule when he would be sitting by a fire in Mmashoro," Modubule said.

Another speaker Gilbert Mangole told the gathering that Khama's dictatorship rule emerged as soon as he took over the leadership of the country and that of the BDP saying the president did not hide his loyalty to a certain BDP faction.

He also alleged that because of his poor leadership he was unable to handle the factions properly something which both Festus Mogae and Sir Ketumile Masire managed during their tenure. "Factions have always been there in the BDP and because past leaders always heeded advice they were able to control the situation and the birth of BMD was not due to us being power hungry as Khama has claimed, it was due to his arrogance and dictatorship. I remember at some point Rre Mogae made a mistake of choosing a certain faction over the other and we called him to order. The meeting was in Tlokweng. He apologised and thereafter the way he led the party showed that he had learnt his lesson," Mangole said.
