Kathleen married James "Lloyd" Hickson on May 3, 1975, in Germantown, Iowa. They made their home in Sioux City until 1987, when they moved to Brown's Lake. She and Lloyd were foster parents for many years. Lloyd died on Dec. 13, 2000.

James H. Brown, 87, of Watseka, passed away on Wednesday, May 4, 2011 at Iroquois Resident Home in Watseka.
Jim was born in Sheldon, IL on October 18, 1923, the son of William Floyd and Lena Webster Brown. He was a graduate of Sheldon High School class of 1941. Prior to joining the Army in January 1943, he was employed as a clerk in the Post Office. Upon completion of basic training, he was assigned to the Infantry School at Fort Benning, GA. Jim later transferred to the Army Air Force and spent eleven months with the 25 Infantry. His citations included: Combat Infantry Badge, Bronze Star Medal, American Campaign Medal, European Theater Medal with One Silver and One Bronze Battle Star, Good Conduct Medal and Victory Medal. Jim celebrated a final victory lap with other World War II veterans on an Honor Guard Flight to Washington, DC in August 2010.
Jim attended St. Joseph College and the University of Miami. He was employed for more than 40 years in Personnel/Human Resources Management for a number of area companies, retiring from UARCO, Inc. in May 1990. After one year of retirement, Jim became a part-time bartender at the Buckhorn Inn and Miss Karol’s in Watseka. Jim was also involved in many other clubs and organizations during his lifetime, often serving in leadership roles. He was a 19 year member of the Unit 9 Board of Education, serving as President and Secretary at various times. He was a past Commander of American Legion Post 23 and was a lifetime member of VFW Post 7450. He was a longtime member of Shewami Country Club and the University of Miami Hurricanes Club. He proudly served as a Board member for the 25 Infantry Division Association.
On January 23, 1949, Jim married Janice Johnston of Watseka. She preceded him in death in May 1977. On May 22, 1981, Jim married Marie Redman in Champaign, IL. She survives in Watseka. Other survivors include two sons and three daughters: Jeff (Dawn) Brown of Rock Falls, IL, Greg (Joyce) Brown of Rockford, IL, Pamela (John) Baldwin of Greenville, SC, Jill (Gary) Law of Perkasie, PA and Debbie (Steve) McCullough of Watseka, IL. Jim had eleven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and two more great-grandchildren on the way. Also surviving are brother-in-law, Marion (Fran) Johnson and sister-in-law, Carolyn (Mike) Gerkin.
He was preceded in death by his parents; step-father, Karl Jorgensen; one brother, Louis Brown; and one daughter, Rebecca Brown.
Visitation will be from 2:00-6:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 8, 2011 and 1 hour prior to the 10:00 a.m. funeral service on Monday May 9, 2011 at Knapp Funeral Home in Watseka. Rev. Joel Brown will officate. Burial will be in G.A.R. Cemetery in Watseka with military graveside rites by Watseka American Legion Post #23 and Iroquois County VFW Post #7450.
