Spend less time mowing, more time having fun
The good news is there are ways to decrease the time you spend mowing. By purchasing the right mower for your yard and using certain landscaping techniques to make mowing faster and easier, you’ll spend less time mowing and more time enjoying your freshly cut lawn.
Choosing the right mower
If it takes you much more than an hour to mow your lawn, purchasing a riding lawn mower is probably the best way to cut down that time. However, not all riding lawn mowers are created equal when it comes to the speed of mowing.
Greg Munro, floor manager at the Issaquah Home Depot, said he asks customers several questions before they buy a lawn mower. He asks how big the yard is; whether the yard is hilly or bumpy; whether they prefer an electric, gas, self-propelled or push mower; and what price range is appropriate?
Many lawn mowers also have features, such as mulching or mowing grass and leaves, and how high or low it cuts grass. This season, customers are gravitating toward electric cordless lawn mowers, Munro said.
Though the Issaquah Home Depot does not sell zero-turn lawn mowers, the appliance is another popular seller. Zero-turn mowers are now becoming more widely available, affordable and more user-friendly, making them a sensible purchase for homeowners looking for a quick and precise mow.
Zero-turn mowers can get the job done because:
they have more responsive steering that uses levers as opposed to a steering wheel, allowing you to maneuver more easily around trees, flower beds and other obstacles. zero-turn mowers can cut at nearly twice the speed of traditional lawn tractors, offering the ability to move at 5 mph to 8 mph, as opposed to 3 mph to 4 mph. zero-turn mowers allow you the ability to spin around 180 degrees when you get to the end of your yard, eliminating the need to back up and cut strips of lawn you might miss using a tractor with a steering wheel. by design, zero-turn mowers offer an unobstructed view of the cutting deck, making it easier to see when trimming edges — eliminating the need to touch up the areas you might have otherwise missed.Mowing and landscape techniques
How you mow and the way you design your yard can also play a role in reducing the time you spend mowing.
Some ways you can save time are:
plant a garden, or landscape using woodchips or other materials around trees and near buildings and curbs.Electric Lawn Tractor - News

Mrs Fail compares it to an idling tractor engine, but with a smoother sound. "It's louder than that," she says as a lawn mower starts up in a neighbouring garden. The noise isn't just limited to the west side of the village, says one lady,
The John Deere X304 has a maximum forward speed of 5.5 mph, and like other lawn tractors, moves more slowly in reverse (3.5 mph). You can match this speed with the little electric Ariens Amp (*Est. $2200) -- for zero emissions at point of use,
An electrical designer and engineer, Coate rebuilds, repairs and sells battery-powered riding mowers. He comes by a love of clean, quiet machines through family roots. "I grew up with an electric lawn mower on a smaller scale," he recalls.
When buying a lawn mower the only guideline a homeowner should follow is the size of the yard. For those who live on city lots, most of which are about 15000 square feet in size, a 21-inch walk-behind mower will do the job, Servinski said.
How to Choose An Electric Leaf Mulcher | Lawn Mowers
The first electric leaf mulchers paled in comparison to their gas-powered counterparts. But with advancements in technology, this has now changed. Electric leaf mulchers are quieter, runs cleaner, more convenient and packs sufficient power to rival gas-powered machines.
When it comes to electric leaf mulchers, we’re basically looking at two types: the corded and the cordless mulcher. Corded mulchers need to be attached to a power outlet to run. They can run for as long as they’re plugged in. This is okay if you have a modest sized yard and you can operate your leaf mulcher near a power outlet. However, if you have a big yard, you may need a long extension cord (or several extension cords).
Cordless mulchers are battery operated equipments that can run without relying on a power outlet. They can be located anywhere in your yard. The drawback is that you may be limited by how long the battery holds, which makes them unsuitable for some homeowners.
When choosing an electric leaf mulcher, it is always the first step to look at your specific needs. Things like how big your yard is and what kind of yard debris you’ll regularly expect will help you determine what kind of features will be relevant. Keep in mind that the better the features, the more expensive it’ll be, but that does not mean that the most expensive one is the best one for you.
One way you can save money when buying mulchers is to buy for the kind of yard debris that you regularly expect. For example, on a daily basis, you’ll have grass from your lawn or fallen leaves from your garden plants and trees. But when there’s a storm, you can expect some branches to litter your garden afterward. Does that mean you now need a heavy duty machine that can also handle thick branches?
All of this is very important part of this study. Not necessarily. You can always rent or borrow a heavy duty mulcher for the bigger jobs, which you’ll only do a few times in a year. This can save you huge in terms of buying and maintaining a bigger unit compared to buying and maintaining the one that is just right for you or a model that is just a little higher over what you really need.
When buying electric leaf mulchers, especially one that’s operated by battery, it is important to see what kind of battery is being used. Go for Lithium ion batteries whenever you can. These batteries are more powerful, which can give you longer operating time especially for cordless mulchers.
